Clean water is hygiene, comfort and chiller lifespan in one habit. Here's the routine by setup.
How often to change your water

These are guides, not rules. More users, warmer weather and higher frequency all shorten the interval. If the water looks or smells off, change it don't argue with it.
Sanitising between changes
Cold slows microbial growth but doesn't stop it. Between full changes, one of these keeps the water safe:
- Non-chlorine oxidiser (potassium peroxymonosulfate). Breaks down sweat, oils and skin cells without harsh chemicals. Weekly, or after heavy use, dosed per the label for your water volume.
- Chlorine or bromine tablets (pool/spa grade), low dose. Effective at minimal, controlled doses. Check compatibility with your tub material before use.
- Fresh water exchange. The simplest approach — just change the water more often and skip chemistry entirely. Completely valid for bathtub and inflatable setups.
- Never use household bleach too harsh for tub materials and chiller components.
- If using chemical treatment, target pH 7.2–7.6 and test periodically.
- Run the chiller for at least 30 minutes after adding any treatment before you get in.
- Rinse off before plunging less sweat and product in the water means everything above gets easier.
Filters and hardware care
Ice Drop Chiller
The probe design means there's no filter box or cartridge to service. The routine is short: wipe the probe dry after sessions, keep the unit's vents free of dust, and store it dry. That's deliberate fewer parts, less to fail.
All-In-One Ice Bath
The All-In-One runs ozone sterilisation plus 2-stage filtration (20 micron / 40 mesh). Check the filter bucket regularly rinse it under running water when debris builds, and always power the unit off at the wall first. A clogged filter is the most common cause of weak cooling and flow warnings.
Steel & Red Pine baths
Integrated chiller systems follow the filter schedule in your unit's manual, and power off before any filter handling.
Signs something's off
- Cloudy or discoloured water time for a change or a sanitiser top-up
- A noticeable smell change the water; don't mask it
- Slippery or filmy surfaces sanitiser levels have dropped
- Weaker cooling or flow warnings check the filter before assuming a fault; if it persists, start a claim
Keeping the lid on between sessions is the single easiest win cleaner water, less debris, and the chiller works a fraction as hard to hold temperature. Never overdose sanitiser to stretch a water change; minimal regular doses beat one heavy hit.
